Born and raised in Canada, Karlena Cagnoli has had almost thirty years of teaching experience. Besides English, she teaches pianoforte, music history, music theory, music composition, Classical Hebrew, and Koine Greek. Karlena /kar LI na/ enjoys teaching students of all ages and helping them achieve their goals and explore their potential.
Karlena has completed specialized training in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). She taught in English Language Colleges in Vancouver, her native city, before coming to Italy. Since arriving in Italy in 2013, she has been teaching English in Italian state schools as well as English Language Schools in the private sector. Karlena is also a certified Cambridge English examiner and has prepared students of all levels for English certification exams. As a musician, Karlena’s lifelong passion for music began from an early age. She graduated from the University of British Columbia School of Music where her private piano teachers included Prof. Jane Coop, Robert Rogers, Eugene Skovorodnikov, and Rena Sharon. She completed her Associate in Piano Performance Diploma (Royal Conservatory of Music) with First Class Honours. Karlena’s students have earned honours in Canadian music festivals and also successfully been awarded Royal Conservatory of Music certificates and diplomas with honours and distinction. Karlena is also keen on collaborating with other musicians to explore and perform chamber music. In her free time, she enjoys taking walks, art, playing the violin, cooking, and reading.
